In this exhibition, the model for the “seed” was the modama (Entada phaseoloides),
and this piece is the most direct depiction of its form.
Feeling the potential and the inner energy of the seed,
Kahori Maki let her arm move freely across the paper—
and from those gestures, the shape of the modama began to emerge.
Materials used include pencil, black colored pencil, and pastel.
Within the simple form, spontaneous rhythms and flowing movement come to life.
It’s a piece with gentle openness, where the expression subtly shifts each time you see it.

この展覧会における「種」のモデルは、モダマ（Entada phaseoloides）でしたが、
この作品は、そのフォルムがもっともストレートに描かれた一枚です。
種の持つポテンシャル、内側にひそむエネルギーを感じながら、
腕の動きに任せて描いたラインの中に、モダマらしい姿が現れました。
使用画材は鉛筆と黒の色鉛筆、パステル。
単純なかたちの中に、即興のリズムや流れが生きており、見るたびにその表情が変わっていく、やわらかな余白をもった作品です。
