"All of it—the roots, the leaves, the flowers, the fruit—is inside something as small as a seed!"
This piece expresses Kahori Maki’s sense of wonder and awe at that realization, in the most direct way.
That very astonishment became the core of her creative impulse, leading her to the theme of “seeds” and ultimately to the exhibition Cosmic Seeds.
Drawn primarily with pencil and black colored pencil, the work is composed of dynamic lines and layered collage.
It captures the immense potential of a seed—something invisible yet containing the possibility of an entire future—spreading across the entire surface.
At the center appears Nell, the long-eared rabbit and protagonist of the Cosmic Seeds story.
She seems to embody the memories and landscapes that might live within the seed itself.


「こんなに小さな存在『種』の中に、根っこや葉、花や実のすべてが入っているなんて！」

──そんな牧かほり自身の驚きと感動を、ストレートに表現しています。

この驚きが創作の核となり、「種」というテーマに導かれ、「宇宙種」という展覧会が生まれました。
鉛筆と黒の色鉛筆を基調に、勢いのあるラインとコラージュで構成。
目には見えない可能性や未来の姿までを内包する“種”のポテンシャルが、画面いっぱいに広がります。
中央に描かれているのは、「宇宙種」の物語に登場する主人公、耳の長いウサギのネル。
あたかも、種の内側に存在する記憶や風景を体現しているかのようです。
